September 7 Johor Bahru
Spotted: Miss E and Miss B on the move for a day trip.
This last minute trip was a blur from the start. Woke up late and had to push back the start time by an hour. The transit through immigration was honestly not the worst thing, especially with the officer being so nice to me when he stamped my passport. My original plan was to eat dim sum at a local chain restaurant called Tian Xin Lou, but I didn't know Miss E didn't like dim sum. We changed our destination to a cute japanese cafe (Sunday Morning Coffee Shop). The food was really good especially for the price (~$10). After filling up our stomachs we almost went to a camera store, but I found out it was closed so we last minute changed our destination on Grab to the KSL city mall.
The mall was huge and I could spent the whole day there and still not be finished. We ended up getting a massage for 60 minutes for around $15 which was a very good deal. However, Miss E and I were so mad when we got scammed by this scalp spa place. I originally thought I would only pay ~$30, but we paid $68 in total, and the treatment didn't even feel that good. At one point I was thinking when is this hair washing session over?
Next up was dinner where we went to a place Miss E found called Chaos Natural Wine Bar. The pasta prices were great, but the wine we had were so expensive (wine origin is China) that the total was ~$50 which was not worth it in my opinion. I did think the staff using a Coravin was pretty cool ("a thin needle that temporarily pierces the cork, allowing inert argon gas to be injected into the bottle to displace the wine"). My favorite dish was the appetizer—fried cabbage. I also learned that alcohol in Malaysia is pricier than in Singapore, likely because of stricter regulations tied to the country’s Muslim population.
Afterwards we tried to get durian, but unfortunately the market wasn't selling them on Sundays. At that point I didn't realized until we got on the grab that it was already 9 pm which is when we thought we would be back in Singapore's border already. The entire process was so stressful for me as I still had to make it back for clubbing at 10:30 pm. The wait for the bus was around 40 minutes, and I only got back home at 11 pm after paying the most expensive Grab ride ever.
I finally get to Dashi GoGo around 12 am, and I was so disappointed. The club was so empty that those free shots didn't even make me happy. The music was good in that I knew a lot of the sad melodrama songs...but why would you play them at the club. The night ended with nothing crazy. I was just super tired. Slept at 4 am.
You know you love me
