Just a Girl xoxo

September 6 First Day of Freedom

Spotted: Miss E in town with the girls.

Today I endure another wave of disappointment as I took an ART and it came back + again :( but it marks the 7th day since my fever started. I texted both Miss Es and both were encouraging me to take another shower and redo the ART.

At this point I decided to go no matter what. I was in an ethical dilemma as I didn't want OG Miss E to get sick since she still had a whole month of traveling ahead, but I just can't stand being the only one not eating while hanging out with the rest of the gals. I already spent the whole week being in isolation, confusion, and unwell. The second ART came back + ... I put on a mask as I walked out with Miss K. 2.0 Miss E convinced me with the statement, "yea I think after like 5 days u shouldn’t be actively transmitting anything."

I had some interesting conversations with Miss K. I missed hanging out with her. We talked about the Vietnam trip and her upbringing in Korea. I asked the classic "do you like your mom or dad more," and she was definitely taken aback.

P.S she likes her mom more LOL

OG Miss E arrives not long after Miss K and I arrived at The Populus. The place was packed with people, but thankfully we managed to get a big table without a reservation. The timing was just right. I tried making some small talk with both of them before 2.0 Miss E and Miss I arrived around 20 minutes late. Once the two arrived and everyone ordered food, we all make lots of small talk. Topics included: Miss I having the wrong hem, OG Miss E and her North Korea border tour...

I have to say I felt I neglected Miss K a bit as I tried to faciliate the conversations between the group and OG Miss E. However it got a lot better as the day went by. After the lunch date we decided to do a cafe hopping tour of the area. Actually all of us in the group never visited the area before so it was perfect as the place had so many cute cafes. We passed by a clothing shop where Miss I went to get a polka dot skirt a couple days ago called WithLove. I didn't want to get anything since I still felt sick, but they all tried on some clothes in the end. From this shopping experience I could tell OG Miss E wasn't really all that close yet with the other 3 since they kept yapping in a corner, but I thought it wasn't that surprising since their styles are so different.

We dropped by the cafe OG Miss E was raving to me about—Slow Boat—but the wait time was over an hour long. We left our name and phone number there, but we all knew the chances of us coming back was slim. The cafe definitely had great retro vibes that I feel compelled to go back to. Next cafe we stopped by was called butter tgt. The place had a Korean modern vibe to it which was very different from the last cafe. We had to wait outside for like 20 minutes, which honestly wasn't too great, but we figured a lot of the other cafes would be equally as busy so we stuck through. So sad the madelines were sold out. We all just ordered some tea or matcha lattes. The highlight of this part of the day was how we started yapping a lot more about interesting stories. I think OG Miss E became a lot more comfortable with the rest of the group in this session. The last one we dropped by was a bar cafe, APT - A Place To • Coffee • Cocktail, which was so cute. We definitely had a blast here as we talked about the infamous "you left something downstairs" story and 2.0 Miss E's crazy lineup for her one week vacation. The photos from here were the best as well. I didn't realize Miss I was so into photography until this day—we all ended up just reposting her photo.

Miss K had to leave around evening time due to another phone call commitment with her home university friends, so we wrapped up the hangout at the cafe at the same time. I am glad (I forgot who asked) someone asked OG Miss E for her instagram, so they at least are now all connected with each other. We ended up going to Raffles City area to get Miss I's sim card, and had japanese food at the food court. More yapping about siblings and more crazy stories here before we headed over to the Gardens by the Bay area. I was getting quite tired at this point, and all of us had to take refuge at a Starbucks for AC before finally seeing the beautiful blue lights.

I was so tired once I arrived home I went to bed almost immediately since I had to prepare for JB the next day. Till the next day :)

You know you love me

Ratings

  1. The Populus ⭐⭐⭐ : Food was alright but the pricing was way too high. I definitely was taken aback by how expensive the menu was. Plus the matcha we wanted to try was sold out, so a big disappointment for sure. I would not revisit. Nothing too memorable about this place.
  2. butter tgt ⭐⭐⭐ : I would not come back. I felt the matcha latte was kind of bitter and not well mixed.
  3. APT - A Place To • Coffee • Cocktail ⭐⭐⭐⭐ : The place had a nice vibe to it. I would definitely come back if I wanted to hangout with a group of friends until very late since the closing time was 12 am.
